During the afternoon of Monday 3rd September 2018, in the social media started the distribution of the Gaceta Oficial  6.403 of August 31st 2018 including the Decrees related to the increase of the minimum wage and the Cestaticket Socialista.

Minimum Wage Increase

The Decree 3.601 presented the increase of the monthly minimum wage announced recently to Bs.S. 1.800,00 for employees from both private and public sectors. In the case of teenagers and apprentices the salary was increased to Bs.S. 1.350,00. Both salaries are effective September 1st 2018.

This change of the minimum wage from Bs.S. 30,00 to Bs. 1.800,00 represents an astonishing variation of 5.900%.

The Decree shows no mention to the assumption by the national government of the difference of the salaries of the private sector employees during the first 90 days. Neither there is a reference of the use the so called “Petro” to calculate the minimum wage (1/2 Petro).

 

Cestaticket Socialista Increase

In the Gaceta Oficial 6.403 was included the Decree 3.602 imposing an increase of the Cestaticket Socialista (food bonus) to Bs.S. 180,00. This represents a 10% of the salary fixed in the Decree 3.601.

Previously the Cestaticket Socialista was fixed in Bs.F. 2.196.000,00 or Bs.S. 21,96 therefore we are before an increase of 719,67% of it. This increase is effective September 1st 2018.
